Highway 5 in the North Thompson has been closed south of Barriere at Louis Creek due to what has been reported over social media by those in the traffic lineup as a “police incident”.

Traffic is stopped in both directions and as of 11 p.m. there was no estimated time of reopening for those in the lineup.

UPDATED:

DriveBC posted the following at 11:01 p.m. ‘Highway 5, in both directions. Police incident at Shook Road (2 km south of Barriere) Road closed. Detour not available. Watch for traffic control. Assessments in progress. Next update time will be Saturday, May 21 at 12:45 a.m.’

UPDATED: Saturday, May 21, 6:46 a.m.

Highway 5 has just opened with alternating traffic in both directions.
