The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has appointed directors to its policy review committee.

The committee is reconvening, having not met since 2018. The purpose of the committee is to discuss and provide recommendations and advice to the board relating to policy issues, including development of new policies and review of existing policies.

Committee appointments include four directors representing electoral areas, three directors representing small municipalities and two directors representing large municipalities.

Committee appointees include Stephen Quinn (Area B, Thompson Headwaters), Mel Rothenburger (Area P, Rivers and the Peaks), Carol Schaffer (Area A, Wells Gray Country), Bill Kershaw (Area O, Lower North Thompson), Barbara Roden (Ashcroft mayor), Ward Stamer (Barriere mayor), Linda Brown (Merritt mayor) and Dale Bass and Kathy Sinclair (Kamloops councillors).

During a recent TNRD meeting, Sinclair had suggested reconvening the committee.

She told KTW she thought it was the right time to take a comprehensive look at regional district policies. She said she wants to look at other regional districts and compare their policies, including on alcohol-related spending and overnight per diems. The date of the first meeting remains to be determined.
