I am not often surprised, but the ladies sure surprised me the evening of Tuesday, June 7, with a pre-birthday celebration. Now, it wasn’t just any birthday, but it is my Diamond Jubilee anniversary which is just a nice way of saying I am turning 75. The fun began as we rolled up to the first tee box to find gifts …. for me! This continued at each tee box with surprise bags of goodies from each of our regular teams. And there were presents from folks who weren’t there, and presents from the staff at the golf course.

I was totally overwhelmed and practically speechless. No, not quite speechless. I don’t think that would ever happen to me. There were garden tchotchkes which everyone knows I love, and golfing accessories and wine (with a complete picnic including the basket) and a fun hat that I wore for the evening. I commented that I would wear it to the IDA on Thursday when I get my fourth shot, but I don’t think Bob will go with me if I do that.

Now the day wasn’t all about me. We also golfed, and many ladies won prizes. Low gross winners were Kelly McNabney (Flight 1), Terri Jones (Flight 2), and Lorie Chambers (Flight 3). The Low net winners were Theresa Young (1), Deb Legaree (2), and Trish Thompson (3). Four ladies tied for low gross in Flight 4. You know how Debbie Rainer hates figuring out retro so Rose Seymour, Betty Foote, Brenda Carl and Jodi Craney all received a prize. The Flight 2 deuce pot was won by Debbie Rainer. Chip In pots were won by Deb Legaree (Flight 2) and Jeannie Webber (Flight3).

Prizes went to these folks: Susan Newberry for a long drive and accuracy; Kelly McNabney for a long putt, a KP in 2 and a KP in 3; Babes Shanko for a long drive; Jamie Mosdell for a long putt and a KP in2 ; Emma Schilling for a long drive; Jodi Craney for a long drive; Evelyn Lucas for a long putt; Karen Peterson for a KP, Debbie Rainer for a KP; Linda Ransome for a long putt; Donna Salle for a KP; Doreen Landry for a KP; Lorie Chambers for a KP and Brenda Carl for a long putt. Jeannie Webber had the least putts with only 12 while visitor Allissa Bush had the most putts with 29.

I have intentionally not mentioned the regular sponsors this week. We still appreciate them but I thought I would give credit today to the ones that just get mentioned now and then. Yes, our Hole in One sponsors who are Barriere Auto Parts, Alpine Meadow Resort and Bob Stirling, local artist. We love all our sponsors. Thank you.

Door prize donations from Chinook Cove Golf, Bernice Randrup and Grace Baker were greatly appreciated and a special thanks to Betty Foote for the centerpieces.

The car was full when I headed home and so was my heart. I love Ladies Night, my golfing buddies and the folks at Chinook Cove. Hope to see you all next Tuesday.
