The Barriere Recreation Society say they are “super excited” to be chosen by Curl BC to host under 20-year-old Mixed Double teams from across B.C., Dec. 2-4, 2022, as they compete to see who will represent British Columbia in the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.

The public is invited to come and watch this relatively new curling game that has only two players on each team, comprised of one man and one woman. This adaptation of the curling game was developed in 2001 by Curling Canada’s Warren Hansen and made its debut in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

There are eight teams registered to compete in this event at the Barriere Curling Rink, starting Friday, Dec. 2, with the final draw occurring the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 4.

The rink say the event promises to provide some fantastic curling to watch during the three days.

The society adds that to host an venue like this will require many volunteers and the Barriere Recreation Society is warmly welcoming anyone who would like to be part of this exciting event to contact Theresa Robinson at 250-672-1886 or Bernice Randrup 250-672-5859. There are numerous positions to volunteer for, including timers, cleaning ice between games, concession, bar, 50/50 ticket selling, live streaming and merchandise sales.

A schedule and further information will be posted on the Barriere Curling Club website and Facebook page.
