Chinook Cove Ladies Golf

Magical golfing for 38 golfers during Ladies' Night at Chinook Cove Golf Resort in Barriere

It was yet another warm and magical summer day on Aug. 13, with only a faint wisp of smoke lazily hanging on the horizon. There were 38 ladies — all in good spirits — in attendance at Ladies' Golf night at Chinook Cove Resort, ready to participate in the magic of the evening, which included a remarkable four chip-ins and only three fatalities (balls) in the gully on Hole 7.

Hole 1: KP in 3, Flight 1 went to Susan Mitchell. KP in 3, Flight 2 went to Trudy Forsythe.

Hole 2: Long drive, Flight 3 went to Emma Schilling. Long drive, flight 4 went to Wanda Amos. Long putt, split between Flights 1 and 2, went to Flight 2’s Terri Jones.

Hole 3: We had an accuracy line painted on Hole 3 to test the ladies’ accuracy this week. Flight 2’s Babes Shanko was the most accurate lady of them all.

Hole 4: KP, Flight 1 went to Donna Salle. KP, Flight 2 went to Laurie Hawley. KP, Flight 3went to Deb Winiski. Last, but not least, KP, Flight 4 went to Amanda Lampreau. How long can you go? Or should I say, how long can your putt go?

Hole 5: Long putt, split between Flights 1 and 2, went to Flight 2’s Trudy Forsythe. Long putt, split between Flights 3 and 4, went to Flight 3’s Kate Whitmore.

Hole 6: KP, Flight 3 went to Jamie Mosdell. KP in 2, Flight 4 went to Glenda Feller.

Hole 7: This week, we held the smallest funeral service for balls lost in the gully on Hole 7. Only three ladies made it onto the list (some of our regulars got lucky this time). Krissi Brundell, Kayla Mosdell, and Nicole Huber each lost one ball. Again, the shortest service we have had this year.

On to the pin. KP in 2, split between Flights 1 and 2, went to Flight 2’s Laurie Hawley. KP in 2, split between Flights 3 and 4, went to Flight 3’s Emma Schilling.

Hole 8: Long drive, split between Flights 3 and 4, went to Flight 3’s Emma Schilling.

Hole 9: Long drive, split between Flights 1 and 2, went to Flight 2’s Trudy Forsythe. Long drive, split between Flights 3 and 4, went to Flight 3’s Jamie Mosdell.

Two retros! Least number of putts went to Laurie Hawley, by retro, with 15 putts. Most number of putts went to Krissi Brundell, by retro, with 26 putts.

A magical evening indeed!

Golf question of the week

What is a good women’s golf score for nine holes of golf? The average score for nine holes for a woman is 54. Many recreational female golfers fall within a range between 45 to 60 strokes. What constitutes a good golf score will vary depending on many factors, such as the course difficulty, slope factor, and the individual's skill level.
