Golfing with friends and then supper on the patio – what could be better?

Tuesday, June 2, was wet but wonderful. It was one of those days when your jacket was off and on a number of times. Thank goodness it wasn’t windy or cold. The wonderful part was staying after golf and having supper on the patio…with the proper social distancing in place. Darlene had my favourite chicken burger back on the menu and it was wonderful.

Debbie and I got to hand out prizes and razz each other. Of course, we have been doing that each week when we golf but it is more fun to do it in front of an audience. It was great to see 22 ladies turn out despite the weather. And now I know who all those fair weather golfers are!

We weren’t very good at the KPs this week so those sponsors were moved over to Low Gross/Low Net. The remaining KP sponsors went towards supporting the Junior program. Thanks go out to Quality Contractors, Royal LePage/Westwin Realty, MJB Lawyer, Salle Ranch, Stamer Logging, the Smiths, the Carls, Campbell & Company, and EBL Ventures. Thanks also goes to all the ladies that popped loonies, toonies, fives and tens into the jar. We have a good start to help out the Juniors.

We have a new sponsor for Most/Least Putts who prefers to remain anonymous. You know who you are…Thank You.

Speaking of winners Flight 1 low gross winner was Kelly McNabney (39) and low net was Leanna Layton (43/31.5). Flight 2 prizes went to Deb Rainer (58) for low gross and Leslie Stirling (58/42) for low net. Yes, that was one of those pesky retros. In Flight 3 Babes Shanko scored 53 to win low gross and Jess Thompson scored 59 (38.5) to win low net. First place in Flight 4 we to Lois McInnis with a 68 and second place went to Cheryl Tenzer with a 69.

Susan Mitchell came out of her game smelling like a rose. She shared the Chip In pot with Leanna Layton; kept the Birdie Pot which has been building for weeks all to herself; and popped in a long putt on Hole 9 (Barriere Motor Inn). Leanna Layton also won the Least Putt prize for using her putter only 14 times during her round. Darleen Nickull was not as fortunate using her putter 26 times but she still walked away with a prize.

We had loads of double winners. Karen Peterson had a long drive (Bear Lane Bistro) and a KP in 2 (HUB International. Deb Rainer had two long putts (Munro’s Clothing Co. and Barriere Timber Mart). Jess Thompson won the Thompson Valley Awards mug for a long drive and the Armour Mountain Office Supplies gift certificate for a long putt. Anita Hill had a long drive (Gift ‘n’ Gab) while Babes Shanko had a long putt (Rainer Custom Cutting). Kelly McNabney (Sam’s Pizza) and Cathy Paul (Station House Restaurant) had long drives.

It was lovely to see many of our golf buddies after weeks of staying home. I hope to see more of you next week. Big hugs to you all.
