Today is Sunday. golf night was Tuesday. May 17. It has been such a busy week that I barely remember what day it is. That’s why I had to phone the editor at the Star Journal to see if I was too late with my usual golf report. She agreed that life had been busy and yes, if I did it quickly she would still take it. Thank you Jill.

I must admit I don’t remember the evening too well. I remember having a delicious supper served up by the Chinook Cove staff. I remember chatting and laughing, sharing a few jokes and a lot of stories. I remember winning a door prize because I picked one of those lovely quirky garden sculptures created by Vic Andrews. I don’t remember my golf game that well, which just might be a blessing. I do remember Debbie and I handing out a lot of prizes.

Louise Lodge scored a 47 to win low gross for Flight 1 with Marian Wallace taking low net with a score of 50 (38.5). In Flight 2 Doreen Landry took low gross with a score of 48 while Terri Jones had a 56 (39) to win low net. In Flight 3 the low gross winner with a score of 51 was Lorie Chambers while Leslie Stirling (that’s me) scored 55 (36.5) to win low net. First low gross in Flight 4 with a 62 was Kate Schilling. and Betty Foote with a 65 was second low gross.

In Flight 1 the Deuce pot was won by Marian Wallace and the Birdie pot was won by Donna Salle. Terri Jones won the Chip in pot for Flight 2 and Jo-Anne Livingstone won the pot for Flight 4. In Flight 3 Cathy Paul and Linda Ransome split the Chip in pot. Terri Jones only used 11 putts in her game to win the Least Putts prize while Kate Schilling took 26 to win the Most Putts prize.

Long Drives were the shots of the day. Donna Salle (Barriere Timber Mart) and Babes Shanko (Little Fort Subway) had KPs in 3 on Hole 1. Lorie Chambers (Munro’s Clothing) and Jamie Mosdell (Rainer Custom Cutting) had long drives on Hole 2. Jacki Van Sickle (AG Foods) and Louise Lodge (Armour Mountain Office) had long drives on Hole 9. KP prizes went to Marian Wallace (Cindy Leibel Real Estate), Babes Shanko (MJB Lawyer), Lorie Chambers (Salle Ranch), Betty Foote (Stamer Logging), Louise Lodge (Barb and Carman Smith), Doreen Landry (Brenda and Brian Carl), and Jan Davis (Campbell & Co). The KP in 2 prizes were picked up by Theresa Robinson (EBL Ventures) and Theresa Young (HUB International). Many of the usual suspects drove their balls into the gully on Hole 7 and won a prize from North Thompson Funeral Services. Long putt prizes were won by Donna Salle (Sam’s Pizza), Jo-Anne Livingstone (Quality Contractors), Babes Shanko (Thompson Valley Awards) and Audrey Rilcoe (Barriere Motor Inn). Audrey Rilcoe also picked up the Accuracy prize from Station House Restaurant.

So far the long weekend has been lovely weather for the golfers. I am hoping it will hang around for Ladies Night on Tuesday. Someone (maybe Mark Twain, maybe not) once said “Golf is a good walk spoiled”. He obviously never golfed Ladies Night at Chinook Cove Golf Course.

Sure hope to see you there.
