It was another interesting Chinook Cove Ladies Golf Night on Aug. 6. All the ladies who got asked "How did your golf game go?" had pretty much the same answer: "horrible" or “awful,” with occasionally the milder “I golfed so much better last time.” At least there was consensus. I might be biased: I think everyone did okay, but to be fair I have been looking at all the winners of this Chinook Cove Ladies Night.
Hole 1: Long putt, split between Flights 3 and 4, went to Flight 4’s Donna Fraser.
Hole 2: Long putt, split between Flights 1 and 2, went to Flight 1’s Donna Salle.
Hole 3: Long drive, Flight 3 winner was Karina Scott. Long drive, Flight 4 winner was Carmel Keenan-Dorish.
Hole 4: KP, Flight 1, was unclaimed. KP, Flight 2, went to Kristin O’Connor. KP, Flight 3, went to Evelyn Lucas. KP, Flight 4, went to Mary Martin.
Hole 5: Long drive, Flight 1 winner was Marian Wallace. Long drive, Flight 2 winner was Terri Jones. Long drive, Flight 3 winner was Karina Scott. Long drive, Flight 4 winner was Mary Martin.
Hole 6: Only two ladies got KPs on Hole 6. Flight 2’s Hailey Cocker got a KP and Flight 4’s Tara Murphy got KP in 2. This time, I managed to rescue the R.I.P. pin sign before it got put into the recycle bin. I can’t say the same for golf balls! Lynda Fournier lost two golf balls to the gully, Darlene Nickull lost two, Deb Winiski lost two, and Heidi Schilling and Melissa Bourne each lost one.
Hole 7: One lady managed to get on the green in two strokes on hole 7. Split between Flights 1 and 2, Flight 2’s Ilke Marais-Prinsloo got KP in 2.
Hole 8: Long drive in Flight 1 winner was Susan Newberry. Long drive in Flight 2 winner was Kristin O’Connor.
Hole 9: Closest to the 150 marker (any hit) Flight 4 went to Tara Murphy. The least number of putts went to Kate Whitmore with 12 putts, and most putts went to Rose Seymour with 26 putts.
On to all our lovely Flight winners!
Flight 1: Low gross went to Donna Salle with a score of 50 and low net went to Susan Newberry with a score of 41.
Flight 2: Low gross went to Hailey Cocker with a score of 43 and low net went to Laurie Hawley with a score of 32.5.
Flight 3: Low net went to Mary Vansickle with a score of 48 and low net went to Kate Whitmore with a score of 31.
Flight 4: Low gross went to Mary Martin with a score of 59 and second low gross — by retro — went to Heidi Schilling with a score of 60.
We had two birdies this week, and all of them Flight 2 ladies as well! Kristin O’Connor got a birdie on Hole 1 and Hailey Cocker got a birdie on Hole 6. For everyone proclaiming "horrible golf" there were still lots of good shots.
