The 2nd annual Barriere Pickleball Club Tournament was held in the community on Saturday, April 30, with 16 players participating, including three from Clearwater.

Music, door prizes, skills contests, plus snacks and beverages were provided for all who attended.

Club members extended “a big thank you” to all the players, and to Barriere Outdoor Club volunteers for donating their time, money and prizes to ensure the tournament was a success.

A huge thank you was also expressed to the District of Barriere for providing the group with six new outdoor courts at the Airfield Road location.

Kathy Matthews and Linda Ransome won the first place trophy by defeating the only all-male team for the win, and the team of Connie Sobchak and Tracy Sealy took home the first place trophy in the B-Division.

The winners received custom made trophies by Carmel Keenan.

Clearwater’s Sandy Crane won the skills contest and was awarded a gift basket donated by Mary MacLennan.

Club members advise that Pickleball is reported as being the fastest growing sport in North America.
