Where has the golf season gone?

Where, oh where has the golf season gone. Oh where, oh where can it be? All my drives are short and my putts gone wrong. Oh where, oh where could it be?

Where, oh where has the golf season gone. Oh where, oh where can it be? All my drives are short and my putts gone wrong. Oh where, oh where could it be?

Tuesday, Sept. 6, was our second to last night of the 2022 season. As has been our practice the past few years the 26 ladies present held an annual meeting and election of officers. Debbie Rainer was returned as captain and Leslie Stirling (that’s me) was returned as secretary-treasurer. Both ladies advised that the 2023 season would be their last one. That does mean that you will have to put up with me and my column for one more year.

Low gross and net winners were sponsored this week by Barb and Carman Smith, HUB International and Campbell & Co. Louise Lodge won low gross with a 43 in Flight 1 and Susan Newberry won low net with a 46 (35). Debbie Rainer scored 53 to win low gross in Flight 2 while Evelyn Lucas was close behind with a 54 (37.5) to win low net. In Flight 3 Audrey Rilcoe scored 54 to win low gross by retro and Trish Thompson took low net with the same 54 (36). Low gross in Flight 4 was won by Rose Seymour with a 62 and Wanda Amos scored a 64 to win second low gross. Babes Shanko won the Chip In pot for Flight 2 while Brenda Carl, Rose Seymour and Judi Klontz split the Flight 4 Chip In pot.

This was the long drive week with only a few putt prizes being handed out. Donna Salle (Munro’s Clothing), Barb Smith (Thompson Valley Awards) and Susan Newberry (Tri Peaks/Kelly McNabney) were the people putting in long putts. Donna Salle had the least number (13) putts while Jamie Mosdell had the most putts (31). Long Drive in 2 awards went to Louise Lodge (Rainer Custom Cutting), Debbie Rainer (Sam’s Pizza), Emma Schilling (Station House Restaurant) and Jamie Mosdell (Sun Life Financial/Ainsley Gullage). Long Drives on Hole 5 were made by Louise Lodge (AG Foods), Debbie Rainer (Armour Mountain Office), Trish Thompson (Barriere Motor Inn) and Kate Schilling (Barriere Timber Mart). KPs were won by Marian Wallace, Debbie Rainer, Audrey Rilcoe, Barb Smith, and Babes Shanko. Babes had to share that last one with Deb Rainer because the Treasurer made an error. (Don’t tell Bob Stirling that I made a mistake) . Brenda Carl had a KP in 2 on Hole 6 and Janice Advent had one on Hole 7.

By the time you are reading this we will have held our annual Club Championship. Twelve ladies will be taking part on Saturday, Sept. 10. I always enjoy the event, although I am seldom a pin or pot winner. This is an 18 hole event and as I write this I pray that I will have the energy to make it through the day.
