Candidates officially declared for District of Barriere, TNRD and School District 73

Official candidates for the District of Barriere, for the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and for School District No. 73 have been officially declared.

Official candidates for the District of Barriere, for the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and for School District No. 73 have been officially declared.

Current mayor Virginia Smith will not be seeking another term.

Instead, councillors Mike Fennell and Ward Stamer will seek to step into leadership.

Councillors Al Fortin, Amanda Sabyan, Donna Kibble and Pat Paula are all seeking re-election.

Joining them on the ballot are Linda Altenhofen, Judy Armstrong, Scott Kershaw, Rob Kerslake and Shane Quiding.

Ten candidates will vie for five School Board trustee positions for the City of Kamloops: Donovan Grube Cavers, Bowen Cooluris, Heather Grieve, Adam Jensen, Kathleen Karpuk, Beat Klossner, John O’Fee, Kerri Schill, Joe Small and Meghan Wade.

One trustee will be chosen from the following candidates in each of the remaining areas of School Board 73.

Electoral Area J - Cooper Desert Country - Ronaye Elliott and Corine LeBourdais

Electoral Area L - Grasslands - Ken Gillis, Mollie Routledge and John Turner

Electoral Area M - Beautiful Nicola Valley North - David Laird, Linda Murray and Sam Roline

Electoral Area N - Beautiful Nicola Valley South - Herb Graman

Electoral Area P - Rivers and the Peaks - Mel Rothenburger

Residents will head to the polls on Saturday, Oct. 20.
