Get ready for some warm fuzzies.

Today on Thursday, Oct.18, Interior Savings say they will be painting the town blue with a crew of volunteers and a big stack of cash that’s just itching to do some good.

It’s all part of Interior Savings’ annual Day of Difference. In addition to serving up treats for members and sending a swarm of employees out into the community to give back, the Credit Union say they are also looking for volunteers to help spend $10,000 on acts of local good.

For the third year in a row, as part of its Day of Difference, Interior Savings is inviting members and local residents to share what good they would do with $100. The Credit Union will then give $100 to 100 people to complete their good deed.

“The response to this program has been overwhelming,” said Corinne Johnson, Interior Savings’ Manager of Community Engagement, “Last year, we received over 100 registrations in less than two hours. The money was used to buy coffee for strangers, warm clothes and food for those in need, teachers involved their classes in determining how to spend it, while one person even called in the help of some friends to turn $100 into 100 care packages.”

On Oct. 18, go to www.localgive.eventbrite.ca to share what local good you could do with $100. Registration will be open for the entire day and successful applicants will be notified by Nov. 1.

On Oct. 18, all Interior Savings branches will open at 9:30 a.m. with treats and gifts for members then, at 2 p.m., they’ll lock up early and over 500 employees will fan out across 14 communities from Osoyoos to Clearwater to lend a helping hand to those community organizations who work tirelessly for the benefit of others.

Keep an eye out in Barriere on Oct. 18, for Interior Savings staff volunteering while wearing their blue community crew shirts.

The Barriere Branch will also be closing its doors at 2 p.m. that day so the team can collect bottles to raise funds for the Barriere Lions Club and the Anti-Violence Advocates Society.
