Six abandoned campfires were found in the Kamloops Fire District over the long weekend causing great concern for officials.
A Kamloops Fire Centre spokesperson reported “The campfires were still hot to touch when found. Had weather conditions been warmer or dryer this could have been a very large issue.”
Fines of $1,000 were given out for leaving a campfire, along with a number of tickets for having a campfire which is larger than a campfire. Campfires must be no more than 1/2 metre by 1/2 metre.
