The Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce will host Municipal All-Candidates Forum to be held at the North Thompson Fall Fair Hall. The Forum will now be held Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30pm.
Candidates vying for council in Barriere will be invited to attend the forum.
The evening will begin with an introduction of the candidates, followed by written and oral questions from the floor and end with a brief closing statement from each candidate.
Moderator for the evening will be Harley Wright. Everyone is encouraged to attend these events and hear what the candidates have to say on the issues of concern to business owners and residents.
The certified list of candidates are as follows:
Mayor (one to be elected): Bill Humphreys and Virginia Smith
Councillors (six to be elected): Harry Eberts, Donna Kibble, Glen Stanley, Amanda Sabyan, Ward Stamer, Mike Fennell, Al Fortin, Shane Quiding, Pat Paula and Christine Janis.
General election day for Barriere’s municipal election is set for Saturday Nov. 15, 2014 with advance voting on Nov. 1 and 5, 2015. Barriere residence can cast the votes on those days from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the district office building located at 4937 Barriere Town Road.
