Barriere Legion awards grants from gaming funds to local service organizations

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242 in Barriere last week awarded a number of grants from gaming money raised through their annual meat draws and 50/50 draws. In total, just under $9,000 was given to important organizations that service the community and area.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 242 in Barriere last week awarded a number of grants from gaming money raised through their annual meat draws and 50/50 draws. In total, just under $9,000 was given to important organizations that service the community and area.

Pictured: (l-r) Legion representative Vern Buker after presenting cheques of $1760 each to Barriere and District Food Bank rep John Willox, Barriere and District Hospice Society rep Jan Milburn, and North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre rep Judy Armstrong). Cheques were also written for $1760 to Barriere Soccer, and Barriere First Responders who were not at the presentation.
