As always, both Terry Fox Runs in Barriere were well attended.  The Community Terry Fox Run on Sept. 16, had 86 registered participants, raising over $6243 from the community of Barriere. The weather was perfect for the event; sunny, but not too hot for those running.  Registration was at the Barriere Bandshell where participants began their run.

They ran, walked, biked and even scooted around Barriere. They wrapped up the fundraising event back at the Bandshell a fews hours later.

Miss Oates, a teacher at the Barriere Elementary school organized the schools Terry Fox Run. It was held on Sept. 20.  The whole school participated.  The goal was to raise a toonie per child enrolled in the school.  The 225 children were successful in reaching this goal, bringing in just over $455. The students participated in a assembly learning about the history of Terry Fox Run and its founder with a special guest appearance from local resident and the community Terry Fox Organizer Kathy Cooper.

The excitement from the students was obvious with many cheers and applauds from the crowd as they bursted through the school doors and began their run.

It is heartwarming to see the youth in Barriere being so involved in such an important community event.
