Barriere woman fatally injured from accidental firearm discharge

Carol Ann Sandercott, 61, was fatally injured as a result of a reported accidental firearm discharge in her Barriere home the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 20.

RCMP and BC Ambulance Services attended the emergency call to the residence, where the victim was transported by ambulance to the Barriere Health Center where she was pronounced deceased by the attending physician.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit with assistance from the Barriere Detachment were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident as of press time last week, with all those involved in the investigation continuing to cooperate with investigators.
