Update Thursday, 10:04 a.m.: Highway 5 is now open after a vehicle incident has been cleared.

Thursday, 9:03 a.m.: Highway 5 south of Little Fort is still closed near Thuya Creek.

An update June 16 at 7:31 a.m. from DriveBC says the road is estimated to be open at 10 a.m.

Wednesday, 10:15 p.m.: There’s still no estimated time of re-opening on Highway 5 after a rolled over semi closed the highway for 4.6 kilometres from Thuya Creek to Allen-Meeker Roads.

The only suggested detour at this time is Highway 24. Dunn Lake is also suffering a temporary closure as BC Hydro is reporting trees have fallen on hydro wires.

The next DriveBC update is scheduled for 12:15 a.m. Thursday, June 16.

Wednesday, 9:17 p.m.: A collision south of Little Fort has shut down Highway 5.

A post to DriveBC’s Twitter page says both lanes of the highway are closed near Thuya Creek due to a motor vehicle incident and crews are en route. The highway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time. An assessment is underway and there is no estimated time of re-opening, according to DriveBC. There is no detour. The next update is scheduled for 10 p.m.

Eye witnesses say a semi-truck is rolled over on the highway and collided with passenger vehicle. Blackpool Fire Rescue is headed to the scene, if not there already, and a tweet from Kamscan said an advanced life support ambulance south of Barriere was dispatched as well.

More to come.
