The community of Barriere celebrated Canada’s 145th birthday in grand style, with large numbers of people turning out for the festivities in Fadear Park and the Barriere Bandshell.

The rain held off, and the sun graced the day with a few appearances; much to the enjoyment of families who were picnicking on the grass. The red and white of Canada’s maple leaf was everywhere, as both young and old actively displayed pride in their country.

Both MP Cathy McLeod, and MLA Terry Lake graced the proceedings opening, as did Mayor Humphreys, Simpcw Band Councillor Tom Eustache, and TNRD Area ‘O” alternate Mike Fennell.  Bouncy castles, concessions, and a steady lineup of great musicians on stage filled the day with smiles and good memories.
