Chamber to host all candidates forum Nov. 3 at Lion’s Hall

Barriere Chamber of Commerce meeting

The Barriere Chamber of Commerce (BCOC) meeting of Oct. 4 started with an update by Jack Keough of Yellowhead Community Services on the status of the request for proposal (RFP) for Barriere Employment Services (BES).  The BCOC will know by early November if they were successful in winning the RFP, and an official announcement will be made in December.

Keough explained that the whole process is designed to be seamless for the clients using the Employment Services, with no disruption to any of the services provided.  The official take over of BES by whomever wins the RFP would be April 1, 2012.

Lorne Richardson reported that it is time to start work on publishing a new edition of the Travel Guide.  The guide is printed every two years and covers Valemount, Blue River, Barriere and Area “O”, Wells Gray, and Sun Peaks.

The BCOC will host an All-Candidates Forum on November 3 at the Lions Hall, and will advertise more details about the forum in the next few weeks.

Members will be making some large silhouettes for use in decorating Barriere Town Road for the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo next year.  The decorations will be reusable and will be put up and taken down for each Fair by Chamber members.

The next regular BCOC meeting will be on November 1, 7 p.m.
