Clearwater RCMP recover stolen snowmobile

Three snowmobiles and a trailer were stolen from an Alberta family staying in Blue River

Clearwater RCMP report that three snowmobiles and a trailer were stolen from an Albertan family staying at a lodge in Blue River. A suspect vehicle was identified. Shortly after, the same vehicle was involved in thefts in Penticton. Police identified the suspect and his associates. Police were able to locate an associate’s residence and one of the stolen snowmobiles was recovered. Investigation is continuing and evidence is being collected on the suspect, who is a well known prolific offender in B.C. and Alberta.

Crooks look at Facebook too

RCMP attended a break and enter report in Blue River. While the homeowner was away for work, the suspects broke into his residence, stole a gun safe, firearms and ammunition. Evidence was obtained at the scene and will be sent to the Forensic Identification Section for analysis. Facebook posts confirmed the homeowner was out of town working. Suspects could have been monitoring the updates so police advise the public to limit the personal information shared on social media in order to prevent these crimes.

Driving while prohibited

RCMP arrested a local male from Vavenby who had two outstanding warrants for driving while prohibited. The male spent a few days in Clearwater RCMP cells before being transported to Kamloops Regional Correction Centre to await a court appearance for the outstanding charges.

New Year’s assault

On New Years Eve the police were advised of an assault of a local male who had just purchased some alcohol. It was reported he was jumped and beat up by two other males known to him who had also demanded money. The male sustained minor injuries and did not want the suspects charged. Police identified all people involved. Investigation revealed that the incident was over a past drug deal gone wrong. No charges have been forwarded.

Intoxicated male refuses to leave

RCMP were advised of an intoxicated male at a diner in Little Fort who was refusing to leave. Police attended and located the suspect male. Police checks showed that he had outstanding warrants for arrest in B.C. The male was arrested and transported to the Clearwater RCMP cells. The following day, BC Sheriffs transported the male to Kamloops to go in front of a judge to address the outstanding warrants and charges.

Online fraudster at work

A report was made to RCMP of a fraudulent Kijiji ad. A local resident attempted to purchase a product from the ad when the seller requested a deposit be made to hold the item. The deposit was made and the seller did not meet up at the address provided, would not answer phone calls or text messages and the Kijiji ad was removed. When purchasing items, if the price looks to good to be true … it is. Buyers beware.

Police also investigated during the previous week: • One suspicious person report; • Six traffic reports; • Three 911 reports; • One theft report; • Two uttering threats report; • Six vehicle collisions; • One mental health report; • One trespass report; • One impaired driver report; • Two disturbances by being drunk in public; • One report of a domestic disturbance.
