A 52-year-old man was found dead after crashing his bicycle along Highway 97 south of Quesnel Saturday, July 1, said Quesnel RCMP.

“On July 1, 2023, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a deceased man located in the ditch on Dragon Hill along Highway 97 in Quesnel. The investigation indicated the man was travelling down Dragon Hill on his bicycle when he struck a light pole and went off the road into the ditch where he was located,” noted RCMP.

The man was not wearing a helmet and the bicycle did not appear to have functioning brakes, said police.

Police want to remind cyclists to ensure they wear proper safety equipment and that their bike is functioning properly.
