The emergency room at the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will be closed overnight, both Friday and Saturday, says a statement from Interior Health sent at 4:35 p.m. Friday.

The ER will be closed:

- 6 p.m. Friday, June 24 to 7 a.m. Saturday, June 25

- 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25 to 7 a.m. Sunday, June 26

The health authority says the closure is “due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.”

Clearwater and area residents are encouraged to call 911 in the event of an emergency and ambulances will be routed straight to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during closure hours. Those seeking medical attention can also visit Royal Inland Hospital, or call HealthLink BC at 811 if unsure of their medical care needs.
