Last week the crew at Gilbert Smith Forest Products Ltd. celebrated Kathy Cooper’s retirement after 39-years of dedicated work. Activities started during the Monday morning tailgate meeting with the crew recognizing her retirement and Kathy leading her last ever morning of warm-up stretches. In a small socially-distanced gathering, the office team celebrated and the company presented her with a locally handcrafted live edge cedar picnic table.

“The group watched a retirement video filled with congratulations from many people in the industry who have worked with Kathy as well as lots of pictures and memories from her years of service. In the afternoon, a parade of family well-wishers drove by with signs and decorations and Kathy was taken for a tour through town with her family and friends on her last day going home from work. Kathy has been an integral part of the Gilbert Smith family and has worked in a number of key roles. She is an active and positive presence in the community and is especially involved with the Terry Fox Run. Everyone at work will miss Kathy and appreciates all the value and positivity she has added to both the mill and the community over the years.

“A big congratulations from the Smith Family and the crew at Gilbert Smith Forest Products Ltd!
