Simpcw First Nation confirmed last week that Chief Keith Matthew has resigned for personal reasons.
Councilor Fred Fortier will be stepping in as interim chief.
Elections for a new chief likely will be held in eight to 10 weeks. Matthew has been chief of the Band for about five years.
