Liquor Store break-in

Barriere RCMP were called to an alarm at the liquor store.

RCMP Cpl. Chris Newel

Around midnight, on Sunday. Oct. 30, the Barriere RCMP were called to an alarm at the liquor store.

Police attended and found the front door had been circumvented and entry gained.  Once inside one subject went to the security system and the other to the office. The security system was removed but not before it recorded the entry.

There was no cash stolen as it had been removed from the site when the store closed the day before. There was a safe but the subjects were unable to gain entry.

Kamloops Forensic Identification section attended and they are currently evaluating the evidence.

Several similar incidents have incurred in rural areas including Clearwater the week before.  Police are following up with the other detachments to see if there is a link.

Police are asking residents of smaller towns to be vigilant and take note of vehicles around businesses late at night. Police are also increasing their late night patrols.
