Area resident Larry Holland was convicted of obstruction of justice and assaulting an officer, then given a suspended sentence with 12 months probation resulting from an altercation with Barriere RCMP Apr. 2 of this year.
Police arriving from a 911 call from Holland’s ex-wife at his house ended up in a tangle with police when Holland, who was under the influence of alcohol, resisted arrest. During the scuffle Cst. Dallas Hunt said he lost his balance, was thrown forward, and received a blow to the back of the head. At that point Holland was pepper sprayed, cuffed, and arrested.
The Judge also ordered Holland to write a letter of apology to the police and banned him from owning firearms for five years.
