District of Barriere staff are out and about actively pursuing investors to take a serious look at what this area has to offer.

The end of last month, District of Barriere Economic Development Officer Andrew Hayward met with Mike O’Reilly Venture Kamloops, Zhanling Yuan Commercial Counselor Peoples Republic of China, Zhu Feng Vice Consul Economic Commercial Office Peoples Republic of China, and Myles Bruns Regional Director Ministry of Jobs and Innovation.  The group are pictured above (l to r with Hayward second from left) sharing a meal in Kamloops.

Hayward said the main focus of the meeting was to introduce Chinese investors to business opportunities such as the Barriere Industrial Park, Barriere Southgate Industrial Park, and other area ventures.

“The opportunity for foreign investment is very exciting,” said Hayward, “These gentlemen are interested in moving forward as liaisons between the District and a number of possible Chinese corporations.”

He noted that the delegation was looking at opportunities to establish  businesses such as assembly plants, factories, and partnerships in alternative energy production.

“We are generating a considerable amount of interest in this area,” said Hayward.
