Kamloops This Week

Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo Conservative MP Cathy McLeod is taking on new duties after Prime Minister Stephen Harper shuffled his parliamentary secretaries this past week.

McLeod, formerly the parliamentary secretary for National Revenue, will now assist with two ministerial portfolios: Labour and Western Economic Diversification.

McLeod said she’s “really pleased” with her new assignments.

“It’s really important in terms of supporting the west and supporting economic growth,” she said.

McLeod is one of 11 secretaries reassigned. Harper also added a dozen new secretaries as part of the shuffle.

MPs are paid $160,000 a year and earn an additional $16,000 for parliamentary-secretary posts.
