Nomination forms available for municipal elections

District of Barriere elections 2011

Public Notice is given to the electors of The District of Barriere that, nominations for the offices of Mayor – one position, and Councillors – six positions, for a three year term beginning December 5, 2011, will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person, as follows:

The District of Barriere Office, 4936 Barriere Town Road, Barriere, B.C.

From:   9:00 a.m. October 4, 2011

To:   4:00 p.m .October 14, 2011

Excluding Statutory holidays and weekends

Nomination documents are available at the District of Barriere Office or by going to their website.

General Election Day is Saturday, November 19th, 2011, with two Advanced Voting opportunities:  November 5th and November 9th, 2011.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE:

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

• Canadian citizen;

•18 years of age or older;

• Resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;

• Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office.
