Old chips for landfill reclamation

landfill reclamation

The wood chip pile that sits on the old Tolko mill site in Louis Creek is now being dug up and hauled to help reclaim the land at the Barriere Land Fill on Barriere Lakes Road. The mountainous pile of chips has sat there for eight years and has composted and rotted extensively during that time. Apparently it is now just right for mixing with biosolids to create the composted growing medium needed to metabolize the methane gas emitted from the landfill.
