Barriere RCMP say on Jan. 18, at approximately 9 a.m., they received a report that a vehicle on Robin Drive had been entered around 1 a.m. that morning and a backpack with contents stolen from it.

It was reported that a suspicious person was observed at a neighbouring property, and it is believed the suspect was riding a bicycle, but because of the dark night no other description could be provided.

The contents of the stolen backpack included a Garmin GPS, a hunting knife, and a Go Pro camera among other items.

Due to the fact it was unknown at the time of the theft that entry had been made to the vehicle and the backpack taken, police were not called until later in the morning when the theft was discovered.

Police are advising Barriere residents to be aware of any suspicious prowlers on private property during the evening and early morning hours, and to secure their vehicles and remove all valuable contents.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to call the Barriere RCMP at 250-672-9918.
