RCMP hold enforcement blitz in North Thompson

Communities of Blue River, Avola, Valemount, Clearwater, Little Fort, and Barriere saw increase in traffic law enforcement

During the week of Sept. 22 – 25, Clearwater RCMP Central Interior Traffic Services were joined by additional traffic enforcement officers and police K9 units to conduct enhanced traffic enforcement.

The communities of Blue River, Avola, Valemount, Clearwater, Little Fort, and Barriere saw an increase in traffic law enforcement throughout the week.

Police issued numerous violation tickets for various infractions, including speeding, no driver’s license, no vehicle insurance and other moving infractions.

Three immediate roadside prohibitions were issued for alcohol.

Two people were taken into custody on outstanding warrants. There were nine drug seizures, two of which came from commercial vehicles.

Police seized 64.5 lb. of marijuana from one traffic stop, and approximately $20,000 in currency from another traffic stop.
