Carol Schaffer of Vavenby has defeated incumbent Tim Pennell to become the new Thompson-Nicola Regional District director for Wells Gray Country (Area A).
Schaffer received 177 votes during Saturday’s voting versus Pennell’s 164.
In Thompson Headwaters (Area B), incumbent Willow MacDonald of Blue River, faced down challenger Max Lentz of Kamloops to retain her seat at the TNRD table. The vote was 69 to 51.
On the south side of Barriere, Mel Rotheburger defeated John Sternig for the position of TNRD director for Rivers and The Peaks (Area P) which includes the community of McLure and south to Kamloops. The vote was 512 to 444.
