When retired seniors, Ken and Sue, stopped at AG Foods in Barriere as they cycled through the community, no one knew what an adventure they were on until Star/Journal correspondent Elli Kohnert struck up a conversation with them.

The couple told Kohnert that they live at Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna where they ski and snowshoe all winter.

“We spend a lot of time cycling in the summer,” said Sue, “Today is the third day of our cycle to Edmonton where we will catch a plane to England.”

They will not be stopping there for long.Sue says the couple “…will cycle a couple of days to the ferry that will take them to France, then cycle the Atlantic coast of France, cut across Spain, and then cycle the Atlantic coast of Portugal.”

In total the couple will be traveling about 4,000 plus kilometers in just over three months.

“We have traveled just over 100,000 kilometers by bicycle since 2000,” said Sue, “And we hope to enjoy many more years by bike.”
