Kamloops RCMP has received a rash of reports of people’s vehicles being broken into. In all cases, Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said, valuables have been stolen from the vehicles.

Between May 29 and May 31, there were 16 theft from vehicles reported.

“While this number of thefts over two nights is not unusual, what stands out for police is the amount of valuables stolen,” Shelkie said. “Items taken from the vehicles include three wallets, over $200 in cash, loose credit and bank cards, a briefcase, two laptop computers, two iPods, an MP3 player, gift cards, personal papers and liquor.”

Shelkie said residents are urged to lock their vehicle doors and to not leave valuables inside.
