Suspect sets up meeting to steal your jewellery

Kelowna RCMP fear there could be more victims of a male who poses as a buyer of jewellery

Kelowna - RCMP fear there could be more victims of a male who poses as a buyer of jewellery who sets up a meet with seller then steals the jewellery.

Kelowna RCMP have recently responded to several 911 calls from distressed persons who reported they were victimized by a very tall white male who stole their rings right off their fingers.

The unsuspecting victims had advertised their jewellery for sale on Castanet. The suspect contacts the seller with intent to purchase and arranges for a meeting to purchase the item during the daytime.

Once the meet is set, the suspect shows interest in inspecting the items prior to purchase, and while closely inspecting them quickly grabs the jewellery from the seller and runs away.

The suspect is described as being tall, six feet to six feet, six inches, Caucasian, wearing a grey top, jeans, runners, wearing baseball cap and sunglasses with some facial growth.

Investigators caution the public to be vigilant and cautious when selling items to unknown persons, to take extra care to ensure a buyer is legitimate and to take precautions if meeting a prospective buyer.

These theft investigations are ongoing and police are asking anyone with any information regarding this suspect or thefts to contact their local police, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
