Last year, men and women with the B.C. Wildfire Service, along with contracted crews, fought 1,859 fires that cost taxpayers $278 million. Detailed is what the province uses each year to stop fires from destroying homes and infrastructure and to protect forest values. Kamloops Airport is the headquarters of the B.C. Wildfire Service and home to one of the regional airtanker bases.
