TNRD announces ISP to use Skull Mountain repeater site

Black Pines and McLure will be getting improved Internet, thanks to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

During its July 21 meeting, the TNRD board authorized execution of an agreement permitting ABC Allen Business Communications Ltd. to allocate its equipment for a new service on the regional district’s television rebroadcasting repeater site which is located on Skull Mountain near McLure. The service will provide broadband Internet access to the communities of Black Pines and McLure.

The Black Pines water system will receive funding

The TNRD board approved the expenditure of up to a maximum of $80,000 from federal gas tax revenues for upgrades to the Black Pines community water system.

The board also approved a maximum of $25,000 from the Federal Gas Tax Revenues for upgrades to the Del Oro community water system.

Whitecroft and Heffley Lakes to get a fire department

The Whitecroft and Heffley Lakes Fire Association requested that the TNRD establish a fire protection service in their area, proposing that the fire department be under the regional district’s jurisdiction and control.

The Board of Directors gave three readings to a service establishment bylaw and a loan authorization bylaw.

A petition will, if successful, give elector consent to the bylaws.
