The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) Board passed two recommendations at their Mar. 10 Board meeting to help Telus further expand its cellular network in various rural communities within the region.
The Board passed a resolution to offer support in building Telus cellular towers in the areas of Blue River, Wire Cache, Vavenby, Long Island Lake, Spences Bridge and Coldwater River.
The Board also offered support in Telus’ bid to waive the need for public consultation on these proposed towers as it applies to Industry Canada’s requirements.
None of the five proposed towers are within a designated radius to homes which would require public consultation as laid out by Industry Canada.
