Travelling south? Potential delays Mt. Paul Way and Halston area

Potential delays and congestion on Highway 5 north, particularly during the rush hour peaks

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure advises those traveling to Kamloops over the next six months to be aware the ministry is anticipating an increased volume of municipal traffic on Highway 5 in the vicinity of Mount Paul Way and the Halston Connector.  This is due to City of Kamloops’ construction on the Overlanders Bridge.

Motorists are advised to anticipate potential delays and congestion on Highway 5 north, particularly during the rush hour peaks. The ministry also advises they will monitor traffic through this stretch, but say congestion will be unavoidable and road users are advised to reduce their speed in the vicinity of Mount Paul Way and the Halston Connector.

Commuters should consider alternate modes of transportation, carpooling, or adjusting travel plans to avoid the peak hours if possible.

Northbound motorists travelling through the Halston Intersection are advised to use the right lane to avoid traffic slowing for the left turn lanes.

The ministry says they appreciate the publics patience and understanding during this time.
