A dog that went missing after his owner’s truck was stolen Friday is back home.

Nexus, a six-year-old male English Bull Terrier, was in the back seat of a 1998 Ford Explorer when it was stolen in the town of Barriere on Friday

The truck was recovered in Chilliwack that evening – but not the dog.

That sparked a desperate search along the highway for the missing animal.

“Please find my dog,” Natasha Holowaychuk messaged the Chilliwack Progress Saturday evening.

Word was spread through Tweets and Facebook posts until finally, Saturday afternoon, the good news.

“We found my dog!” Holowaychuk told The Progress. “He is safe!”

The animal was apparently dumped by the side of the road not far from where the truck was stolen.

“He was trapped amongst the undergrowth, and cried out when he heard a friend of ours searching for him,” Holowaychuk said. “It was very steep ground and he needed help to make it all the way back up to the road.”

Reunited with her beloved bull terrier, Holowaychuk expressed gratitude for the support she received.

“I am so thankful for everyone’s help and assistance! So much love for all the good people in our valley!”
