It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan Thomas Dodd of Barriere, B.C. (formerly of Debolt, AB.) on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the age of 74, after a brief battle with cancer.

Alan is survived by his wife and best friend Marion Berglund, children Pam Dodd, Noella Robinson, Shawn (Rhonda) Dodd and Brian (Rita) Berglund, and his buddy Wicket.

He also leaves behind his five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his extended family and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Stan and Alice, his brother Rusty and his grandson Tanner.

Alan was born on March 22, 1935, at the family homestead in Debolt, Alberta.

Alan spent his working life in Oilfield Construction, the last 17 years as a consultant. After retirement, Al and Marion decided to move to Barriere and have resided here since 2007.

Al’s favourite pastime was anything to do with music, singing and playing his guitar.

He also enjoyed any activity that was outdoors and was often the last person to leave the campfire at the end of the evening.

A special thanks to his many wonderful visitors for being there for him. The music, the calls, the cards, the caring concern during his illness. You brightened his time and he loved it.

Cremation took place in Kamloops. There was a memorial held on May 16, 2009, at the Dodd Farm in Debolt, AB.

A special thanks to the caregivers at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House for their help and support during the last days of Al’s life.
