In Loving Memory of

Andrew Jackson “Andy”

FLEMING

Andy Fleming passed away at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, BC on November 28, 2008, with his family by his side. He was 88 years of age. Andy has lived in Barriere, BC since 1962. He is survived by May, his wife of 61 years; his five children, Eileen (Keith) Gilbert of Vernon, BC, Linda Newberry of Calgary, AB, Rhoda (Robert) Cochran of Williams Lake, BC, Rita (Sandy) Proulx of Williams Lake, BC, and John (Leila) Fleming of Chase, BC; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John (Jiggs) of Consort, Alberta, his sisters; Ida Wittmack of Consort, Alberta, Ethel Morgan of Langley, BC, Joyce Holt and Nina Coffland of Lewiston, Idaho.

Andy was born in Czar, Alberta on June 2, 1920. As a young man he joined the Canadian Military and served his country during World War II. After the war he married his loving wife May, and together their journey took them from the Alberta foothills to Tete Jaune Cache and McBride, finally settling in Barriere. As a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Barriere Horseshoe Club, he enjoyed good times with his many friends in the area over the years.

Andy enjoyed life the most when he was with his family and friends. He loved to tell stories and jokes, play or listen to music and loved to have good old-fashioned fun. He was very proud of his published book of poems. His words were soft and few, but always well chosen. The memory of his kind heart and sense of humor will remain with us forever. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A service to remember the life of Andy Fleming will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 in the Seniors Hall, 11:30 a.m., Barriere, BC. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr Clare and the staff of the Barriere Diagnostic and Treatment Center for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Andy Fleming to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to North Thompson Funeral Services, Barriere, BC, telephone 250-672-1999.
