Bernie was born March 26, 1928, in Simpson, Saskatchewan, and passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009, at Overlander Extended Care in Kamloops, B.C., at the age of 82.

Predeceased by his father Chester, his mother Mildred, his step mother Lillian, his wife Sheila in 2000, grandson Kristian Coffin, and granddaughter Kyla Savage.

Survived by his sons Michael (Marie) Coffin of Abbotsford and Randy (Elaine) Coffin of Surrey; his daughters Donna (Alan) Richardson of Barriere, and Julie (David) Savage of Kamloops; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Bernie married Sheila in August 1956. He worked for over 30 years in the forest industry. He also owned and operated two motels, one in Clinton, B.C., and one in Barriere, B.C., until 1982.

Bernie loved gardening, sports, especially hockey. Spending time with his grandchildren was one of his favourite things.

The family wish to express their gratitude to the staff at Overlander Extended Care – Blueberry Lane for the loving care and attention that they gave to Bernie.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, July 31, 2009, in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street.
