On Friday, March 14, 2008 Barney passed away at Pine Grove Care Centre in Kamloops.

Barney was born in Redcliff, Alberta on April 2, 1920. He came from Canmore in the spring of 1939 with his two brothers John and Chuck and settled in the Fadear Creek Valley. Here, he homesteaded and on November 4, 1942 he married Agnes Ivy Pawloff. Barney moved his family to Louis Creek where he worked for Ken Long and then to Barriere where they lived for 52 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Agnes Ivy, his two sons Mervin and his children (Debra, Nicole and Vanessa and their children) and Wayne (Margaret) and their children (Jamie (Lorie) and Lynne); his sisters Mary Nunweiler and Ramona Robinson and his brother Chuck. Barney was predeceased by his granddaughter Vicky, his brothers John and Robert.

A Graveside Service will be held for family, relatives and friends at the Barriere Memorial Cemetery, Barriere, B.C. on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

A reception will follow at the Bar K Café.

Should friends desire, donation to the Barriere Diagnosis & Treatment Centre, Box 659, Barriere, BC V0E 1E0 would be appreciated in Barney’s memory.

Special thanks to Kathryn and the staff of Barriere Assisted Living, and to the staff of Pine Grove Care Centre for the care given to Barney during his stay with them. Also to Bernie (Bill), Donna (Ray), Donna Pawloff and Donna (Nels) for all they have done to help us through the years.
