In Loving Memory ~
Carroll Diane Scott (nee Bigham), passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023, at the age of 82, after a short stay in Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater, B.C.
Carroll was born on October 20, 1940, in Kamloops, B.C., and was raised in Upper Louis Creek Valley.
She began her schooling at home and then continued on in one-room schoolhouses at Cahilty School and McGillivray School. In her teen years she attended Barriere Secondary School until leaving school and marrying at 18 her husband of 64 years, Edwin (Ted) Scott.
They lived in Glimpse Lake and Sechelt but mainly resided in Barriere and Little Fort, working side by side throughout the years at their businesses. They were owners/operators of Little Fort Esso for 15 years and also worked together Firefighting and Logging where Carroll swamped and assisted with all the chores, all the while raising her family.
Carroll was a talented seamstress who made her children's clothes when they were little and their costumes for school concerts and Fall Fair parades. She also loved to knit, crochet, and craft and made many special gifts for her family over the years.
She had an amazing green thumb and passed on her love of gardening to her children, grandchildren, and now her great-grandchildren. One of her greatest pleasures was camping and fishing and enjoying wildlife. She especially loved bird watching and could identify many species by only their flight or call.
Carroll spent many years as a member of the Little Fort Women's Institute and the Barriere Museum where she gave many hours of her time. She was very passionate that Barriere's history be well-documented and preserved.
Carroll is survived by her loving husband Ted, her children Joni (Wayne), Shelly (Jeff), Randy (Tracy), Michele, and Janine, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Siblings Isabel, Marie, Elizabeth (Lee), and Robert and sisters-in-law Joy (Ken), Jean, Mickey (Ron), Mary (Emil), Kathy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carroll was predeceased by her son Danny, daughter Tina, parents Hazel and Norma, and her sister Dorothy.
A celebration of life will be held for Carroll at a later date. The family wishes to thank the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Acute Care unit for all the love and care they showed Carroll and family. Anyone wishing to donate to the hospital in Carroll's memory would be welcomed.
