Catherine (Kit) MacDougall

August 27, 2005

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kit MacDougall after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born Catherine Gatehouse, she spent her 71 years in Barriere, doing the things she loved best - raising her family and working on the farm.

She had a special fondness for her dog Chummy, her constant companion whether she was working with cattle or in her yard and garden. Married to Wally MacDougall for 41 years, they resided in Chinook Cove where they farmed and raised cattle; they had two sons, Ken and Scott.

She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Corinne (Sis) Gatehouse, her brothers Tommy and George, and her husband Wally.

She will be very sadly missed by her sons Ken (LaVerne) and Scott (Raeann), her grandchildren Chris, Steven, Warren, Katelyn, and Aaron; her sisters Curly (Frank) DeBodt and Jean (Glen) Cochran; niece Joan (Tom) Omasta and her daughters Megan and Jillian, nephew Russ (Nessa) Gatehouse and niece Glenda (D’Arcy) Feller and their daughter Hannah. She will also be fondly remembered by her many, many friends and neighbours in the community.

A memorial service was held on Friday, Sept. 2, 1 p.m. at the Barriere Lions Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Barriere & District Cancer Society, Box 4, Barriere, B.C., V0E 1E0, or a charity of your choice.
