Claudette Jones

Claudette Jones of Barriere BC passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2022 at 77 years of age.
She is survived by her children: Kelly (BJ) Abel of Kamloops BC, Terry (Donna) Jones of Cranbrook BC, Eddie (Leona) Jones of Hope BC
Grandchildren: Kahlan Abel, Jackie & Danielle Jones, Shawn & Nicole Jones and Deanna Jones
Brother: Lou (Sharon) Hudon of Alberta Beach AB
Predeceased by: loving husband Bill Milburn 2001
Claudette was born on November 20th 1944 in Montreal QC to Albert and Ada Hudon. She moved to the BC coast when she was a young girl. Was married in her early 20's and had 3 children, living in Surrey BC at the time.
She moved to the Barriere area in the mid 1970's and worked at the Barriere High School as the head secretary until the mid 1980's. She met her soulmate Bill Milburn during this time, and moved to Darfield where on the ranch they raised Border Collie dogs, Percheron and Morgan horses.
In the late 1980's she opened up a shop with other businesses in Barriere along the main highway called Which Craft where she sold her beautiful crocheted creations and also started up Milburn's Tack Shop.
They later moved the tack shop home on the ranch into the old log house on the property. Sadly in 2001 she lost Bill. She stayed on the ranch with the help of her daughter Kelly for another 5 years before she decided to sell.
She decided to stay in the Barriere community and bought a small home with a huge yard. She loved gardening and it showed in her home. She loved dogs and always had one or two dog companions.
A loving thank you to the home care ladies and nurses in Barriere that cared for Claudette before she moved into Pinegrove in Kamloops. She loved you ladies with all her heart.
We also want to extend our special thanks to the amazing staff at Pinegrove Residence in Kamloops BC for their exceptional care of Claudette in her last few months of life.
Claudette's memorial will be held in Barriere BC on October 8th at the Lion's Hall from 1pm-4pm. All are welcome and please feel free to share your stories. Refreshments will be provided.
