May 6, 1945 - August 19, 2022
In loving memory ~
Dennis "Roy" Monteith, of Louis Creek, BC, was born May 6, 1945 in High Prairie, Alberta. He passed peacefully in his sleep at his home on August 19, 2022.
Survived by his children, daughter Rene Pike (Paul) of Merritt, BC, daughter Tena McKenzie (Todd) of Oyama, BC, and his son Timber Monteith (Russ, known by Roy as Ross) of Santa Monica, California, grandchildren Ryan and Cole Stevens, Samuel Pike, and Tate and Cassidy McKenzie, great grandchild Addalyn Stevens, and brothers Duane Monteith (Helen) of Chase, BC, and Gary Monteith (Ellen) of Barriere, BC. Predeceased by his mother Denise Monteith, father Percy Monteith of Barriere, BC, and wife Joan Monteith of Louis Creek, BC.
Roy was a legend in the logging industry. He was a faller for over 45 years, and those that worked with him were impressed by his skill and work ethic. He could get the job done with impressive speed and efficiency while doing what he could to protect animal habitat.
He was a smart and creative man. He could rig up almost anything to make it work. He did not embrace technology, except his big screen tv that he watched old movies and the Vancouver Canucks on. He left it on 24/7 in case he couldn't get it back on. He was a skilled hunter, fisherman and had very impressive survival skills. He was such a gentle, loving soul that animals were drawn to him. His pets will miss his cuddles.
Roy was always ready for a quick and witty response. He was especially known for his jokes and stories, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He has left many fond and funny memories to all that knew him. He never said good-bye, it was always catch ya later!
Catch ya later, Dad!
The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 1:00 at Roy's residence.
